Indeed, they are intelligent! My brothers Chihuahua (her mother) actually saved he and his wife's life: They had a wide open gas leak in their kitchen, adjacent to their bedroom while they were sleeping in the middle of the night. My dog's mom frantically barked at them to wake them up, urged them to the kitchen and leak, they got out and called the gas people who illustrated how lucky they were. They smoke..... they would have woke up and smoke or as the gas people mentioned, probably wouldn't have woke up. Could'a been bad.

If my son hurts himself, even minor, my dog will come to me barking frantically leading me to my son. When something's wrong, you can tell 100% by their tone. But with all that come's all the drama, they are very emotional dogs.
