you must be doing it wrong.

I love the ipod's near preternatural ability to make "random" track orders associate nicely.

usually, it's the only way I listen to music. even when listening by a specific album or artist, I ALWAYS shuffle (the first few times of a new album, I'll listen to as it's meant to be).

for me, it prevents burn-in/burn-out by disrupting memorization of patterns and ultimately keeps the music more interesting over time.

it's all about what's in yr library though. if you have a large library, and like to pack on an artist's entire library, yr going to hit trash. if yr pressed for space and only have room for the best, well, that's what yr going to get on shuffle.

the difference between my 80g and my 40g's play-all shuffle is extremely noticeable.

my recommendation is that you prune and try again.
