Maybe at this point someone like Beyonce having
a hit song with absolutely no bass in it is more innovative than Sonic Youth pulling of the alternate tuning for guitar trick again and again and again. However you still admire Sonic Youth and, as I suppose, despise Beyonce. Why is that?
