There's a bit in the Billy Bragg biography 'suitable for miners' where the chappy is going on about people who are good at the art of the interview. I can't remember the last time one such person was churned out, but it seems that in the 80s there were loads of them (MES, McGowan, Bragg, Galas, Bargeld, Reid brothers etc). The last band I can think of that were consistently good interviewees (regardless of what I think of their music, which is very little) were the Manics, and they got very tired around the time they started dicking about in Cuba. The only person I can think of is Kapranos from Franz Ferdinand, but that's largely because he's irritating. Unfortunately, even good ol' cuntnose Bono makes a better interview than the grey hordes.
