Arguably the most difficult character to use in both Super Smash Bros. and SSB: Melee, Jigglypuff is nonetheless a valuable character to master.
Unbelievably light, the pink puffball is easily sent flying off the stage from the weakest of Smash Attacks. However, her 5 mid-air jumps – used also with Kirby – allow a spectacular comeback that wouldn’t be possible with the heavier characters. Those jumps can also be a hindrance, however; because Jigglypuff falls slower than the other characters, it is harder to drop down through the stages to take advantage of characters who may be stunned or otherwise vulnerable to attacks.
Jigglypuff’s B moves are the most unique out of all characters, with skills ranging from Status changers to healing. Well, seeing as she only has four, that doesn’t really work, but you understand what I’m saying, right? Up B is Sing, putting all nearby enemies (and friends if Friendly Fire is on) into a deep slumber…for about three seconds, which is the only low point of the move. B is Rollout, a powerful move that nonetheless can be a danger to Jigglypuff as well as her enemy, as the longer it is charged, the harder it becomes to control Jigglypuff’s movements. Right/Left B is Pound, a simple move that causes a fair amount of damage while also moving Jigglypuff a slight distance in the direction she is facing. Finally, Down B is Rest, which at first glance seems to be the worst move in all of SSB history, followed closely by Luigi’s Taunt in Melee. However, if you manage to have the center of Jigglypuff in contact with an enemy when you use Rest, it becomes a one-hit kill! Assuming, of course, that no obstructions block their flight of the stage.
So even though it might take you a considerable amount of time to finally master the skills that Jigglypuff requires, it is well worth the time to see your friends be whipped by your unbelievable skills.
