This isn't unusual. Hardly anyone knows what notes are called, really. Especially just from hearing it. And definitely not right away. It's called practice. Try it sometime.

As far as I know the part of your brain that recognises tone and pitch develops when you are very young(like under 7), and the older you get the harder it is to learn to recognise such things.

But if you want to just keep being self-defeating, go right ahead. The world needs more new drummers than it needs guitarists anyways.
