Alphaville also took me a while to LOVE, but I think it's amazing now. That scene where he shoots the lighter! Haha.

I think my thing with Detective is, I watched it after watching the other 3 Godard films in that set. So, naturally, I was probably expecting something else, since those films are all so beautiful and amazing. I need to re-watch Detective sometime. I still don't think it's a "bad" movie though. I don't think any of his movies are "bad".

Totally agree on Helas Pour Moi/Oh Woe Is Me, that film is amazing. Supposedly Godard's least favorite film of his own, which I don't believe, since clips of it are in some of his short films and in JLG/JLG. But I heard he had a falling out with the main actor in that and that probably is what made the experience so sour. Seriously, some of the best visuals in any film, ever.
