Its not what he said, it is truly in the way in which he said it, the tone and emphasis, and then after when challenged and question in repeated interviews later he absolutely refused to comment on it (ie, it seems to me he decided to hide his opinions because they are contrary to the tone of LA being against the sb1070).
Listen to the interview man, its all in the tone..
