Steve may be the only one who can explain the Smells Like.../My So-Called/Goofin'/SYR intricacies. Is there really a 1998 Goofin' pressing of A Thousand Leaves or is that just the current pressing? The original vinyl was pretty odd, as listed above (SYR 03?!).
Goofin' seemed to initially be for releasing SY "bootleg" items, but eventually became their vinyl imprint when Geffen stopped releasing their albums in that format. It appears My So-Called was a temporary replacement for this same idea in the mid-late 90s. I was actually surprised to only see 3 releases on Discogs. Considering the occasional one-off like Sonic Knuth Records, they may have liberty with the label name when everything is ultimately under SLR?

A Thousand Leaves (2xLP, Album) Geffen Records GEF 25203 Europe 1998
I got this. It came almost half year later than cd. There is an insert with black & white picture and words (I think words are not with cd). This vinyl sounds absolutely great! NYG Ghosts was last vinyl from Geffen. I just thought that maybe they put SYR3 to thousand leaves because SYR1 & SYR2 are some kind of "pre-thousandleaves-records"? "Official" SYR3 is very much different than those two first and atl. I think there is Syr3 mentioined somewhere also in european pressing. |

Just came home and checked EU thousand leaves-vinyl...I remembered wrong, there is no mention about Syr3. Only interesting detail is mille feuille-text in the labels, that is crossed and a thousand leaves-text under it.

I forgot my ATL vinyl said "my so-called records #03 / a division of SYR", which further confuses things since the Death Valley '69 7" reissued in 1995 (before SYR began) is listed as "my so called records #17"! I guess maybe if you line up all of the various bootlegs, fan club releases, reissues, etc that Smells Like.. supervised, you may be able to find some logic in the numbering scheme.
I don't have a scan of it but I think the spine of my ATL vinyl specifically says "SYR 03".
