Well, if we're talking updates and if anyone is interested, everything went quite well afterwards. I put my notice at the end of January and now I'm in the leaving period, meaning, that I will work here 3 more months from the day I put my notice. It's fine now, the boss acts friendly and I hardly do shit anymore, I just don't care. Sweet times. Thanks for being interested, all of you. No fistfight, though.

Yeah, I remember when I gave my standard two weeks notice when I worked a shitty shipping dock job over one summer and I bolted a day early and right before a huge, difficult shipment came in.

I guess slavo is fucking important when it comes to the structure?

one time i got let go, i talked my way into an extra week's worth of employment. not extra pay, like severence pay - for a whole week i actually came into the office every morning and without even pretending to work proceeded to update, print and photocopy my resume, fed-ex them all over town and call everyone i knew, all on company dime. by friday i had a job at another office lined up for monday morning. i collected my final paycheck for the previous week of "work," and said so long, suckers!

i was still in college at the time, but i was interning at an architecture firm down the street from where i lived. when i got my degree, i had been hoping they were going to hire me. instead, one of the partners called me into his office to "talk about something." i could tell pretty quickly that the other partners made him do all the firing. he was the business partner, but not the the suave golf playing type, just a real uptight push-over of a bean-counter. so when he told me they were going to have to let me go, i just looked at him like i'd never heard such a ridiculous thing in my life. i said, "well... ok, but if i were quitting i'd have to give you two weeks notice. i think it's only fair that you give me at least a week notice." he opened his mouth, but nothing came out for a couple of seconds. then he just looked at his desk and said, "yeah, okay... i'll work something out with accounting."

yes, three months notice. In my country, when you want to leave and submit a notice, it's required by law to work 2 months after you put your notice, unless you come to an agreement with your employer. But as I am a lame emphatic fucker with big heart, I agreed with my boss that I'd work a month more to teach my follower and show him around till he gets used to the process. Well, the client I'm working on is pretty damn important for our company and I feel somehow commited, although I could technically give a shit.

But that's just me.

in amerikkka, you're only required 2 weeks notice by custom, but you can quit whenever, unles you have a contract.

so your new employer is gonna wait for you all this time?

yeah my future boss just looks to be such a nice girl. she told me that'd be no problem, they would handle the business a couple of months more without my help. She said she's heard good references of me etc etc..
