to a new fan in order for them to get an idea about their overall sound....
I would recommend Sister. Is this not right? All y'alls' opinions? |

Depends on whether the person is open-minded or if I'm trying to educate them. If they are open minded, Sister or DDN or Evol would all be great choices.
If I'm educating, I'd start with Murray Street, Rather Ripped, Dirty, or Goo |

Well as a stratling between their their old material, the DDN sprawly stuff, and latter day Youth, Sister seems to capture a bit of it all or at least the logic between the progress.

I usually go with Washing Machine, it's a little more mellow. And even RR depending on the crowd. I guess it all depends on where the person you are recommending them to comes from musically.

Evol, it has almost everything in it, poppish sounds, darker atmospheres, vocals from all 3 singers, impro/noisy parts for almost every song in it etc. etc.

So hard to say. Their sound has evolved over the years, so there's really no record that covers it all. I guess you can't go wrong with Sister. This person should like Sister so much, that he will listen to more SY records after that. If not, then he belongs in jail.

I was going to post how it depends on the person, but there are already many points about it. So carry on.

to one who never heard about SY I would give 1000 leaves :
It begins with the super hit SUNDAY, has the sound of SY all the way, not so deep as SISTER or DDN. right? |
