I hope this isn't a dumbass question. I'm fashion challenged. I seem never to know my true shirt/pants/jacket size, and I'm always buying stuff off the shelves too big or too small. It takes me two trips to the store sometimes before I get it right.
So my rock T's are XLs, including my recent purchase of the Confusion is Sex T. I'm comfortable in XL rock T's and they always shrink a little. Even so, they'be got a little room in the shoulders and they hang well below the beltline of my jeans and shorts. But I've noticed the kids in this college town I live in really tend to wear their T's pretty tight and small. Is this the trend now? Am I wearing mine too big? Does anybody else obsess over stupid shit like this? |

Fuck yeah! I make sure everytime I go see a show, I get the t-shirt from the tour. & the shirt must have the dates on the back. My SY concert t-shirt: "War Is Bogus", Sonic Nurse North American Tour, 2004

I'm cool with that. I tried going down a size, to an L, when I was in the store the other day and I felt like I was wearing my little brother's T-shirt. I also think the tighter look works on really slim bodies; I'm not overweight, or at least not by a lot. But those carbs from my beer habit are beginning to do a number on the mid-section.

I'm developing a bit of a gut and man boobs these days, so T-shirts have to be worn loose or else I start looking pregnant.

That's too bad. I hope I'm not one of them. Of course, I can also be seen wearing a Joy Division T and a Marshall amps T, so who knows what people think of me. Yeah, I'm a poser... But I'm not a fucking idiot--at least I don't think so. |

I like fitted shirts; but my mom found a size 12 shirt in my drawer and confiscated it.

I've been wearing my SY shirts since I was in 7th grade and I don't plan on stopping now. XL is the only way to go for me.....because of my huge muscles.

I wear mediums and they're pretty baggy on me. I hardly ever were skin tight shirts hahah.
I've been thinking about making the one I'm wearing tighter... not super tight though.

i have one sonic youth t-shirt, but since i've lost a bit of weight, it's gotten too big. i wish i had the machine from "honey, i shrunk the kids" so i could enjoy wearing it again.
i can't deal with baggy clothes, it's uncomfortable and makes me feel sluggish.

Rule number one, wear what's comfortable for you, but just curious, what is your normal size, large? Medium? Does XL hang on you like a potato sack? |

i have around 8 or 9 sy shirts. only 3 of which are actually wearable now. ive my fav one was a daydream candle i got when i was 15, actually 16 years ago. it got thrown out as i didnt really look after em that well. i love teeshirts, especially nice ones. my recent purchases have been a green pink skull stereolab one, the sonic youth mixtape one and a galaxie 500 one.
ive always wore band shirts, im 31 now and probably always will wear em. but i never wear the same band shirt to a gig, i mean i wouldnt wear an sy shirt to an sy gig, just a thing i have! |

I'm between an L and an XL, I think. No, an XL doesn't look extremely baggy. It's probably about right for my age and body shape. Hangs below the belt line but no more than about halfway down the zipper. Good room in shoulders but not a lot of extra room. Snug at the collar. It's just not as tight and short as I'm seeing them on all the kids around me.

My advice is not to be influenced by the kids around you. I happen to know for a fact that every single one of them is a twat. But seriously, don't be a slave to fashion. Follow your own instincts. To me that's what our kind of culture is all about.
