Aw, being neg repped by cantankerous is no biggie. It happens from time to time. Who knows? It might even be a sign of affection: like punching someone in the arm at school when what you really wanted to do was kiss them.

syd made awesome recordings and wrote great songs!
Pink Floyds success was greatly in debt to barret in my opinion, and hell they still sent him checks every year until he died. for a reason... karma? |

the madcap laughs i like, haven't heard the rest of syd's solo shit.
but i like the floyd post-barrett, pre-dark side a whole lot more, shit's brutal! piper is a good album but tiring, post-moon they have their moments; but when they were mainly an improvisational band is when they were untouchable. too bad most of their greatest shit from that era happened in concerts. |

i figured out the word to describe barrett-era floyd. novelty. that is why they were better after him.
pre-dark side songs that are amazing: one of these days careful with that axe, eugene interstellar overdrive bike lucifer sam obscured by clouds saucerful of secrets

you know what song i hate? jugband blues.
can't stand it, it's like a bad beatles song; it has that last line that's great, lyrically, but other than that, ugh. no. |

Lucifer Sam and See Emily Play are my favorites. Ever.
The only thing about Syd I was say is he was inconsistant, and I kind of agree about them being novelty with him to the tripped out cliches in some songs, but then again he was also a victim to the 'tripped out cliche' himself. But Lucifer Sam and See Emily Play are better than anything Floyd did without him in my opinion. I'd probably like Darkside ALOT better if it was just like...acoustic guitar, moog synth, bass, and a clean guitar with reverb. |

Dougie Fields was sat next to me on the tube yesturday, only realised who it was when I got off the train. Wish I'd said something too him, apparently he let's all Syd fans that turn up at this Chelsea flat see the room Syd lived in/the Madcap Laughs was shot. Darn...

I remember discussing earlier in this thread alot of the material on HYGITY is of dubious origin. Particularly most of the 'instrumentals', theres no proof Syd actually recorded these.
