out January 18th, on "La Tempesta" label, distributed by Venus here in Italy, 666 numbered copies split with a great italian "rock" band, "Il Teatro degli Orrori", 2 tracks on 10" , includes cd with the same tracks. Both bands' musicians play on both tracks and "Il Teatro..." singer sings on both (methinks). He writes amazing lyrics too, in italian. one track can be listened here. Not sure about international shipping by "La Tempesta" own shop, try contacting them via their myspace : http://www.myspace.com/arrivalatempesta (can't find a mail address right now). Another amazing artwork by scarful.

I heard a bunch of tracks, but never listened to a whole record and never saw him live... kinda mellow, but pretty good "landscapes".

I FINALLY heard the one with Nobokazu Takemaru. It's good, I mean I prefer Zu solo or Nobokazu solo ("SCOPE"!) but.. it's good.

Thanks for posting this. I'm a big fan of Zu's work but with so many releases they are a difficult band to keep pace with. This split sounds interesting. Based on the clip you provided, it seems this Teatro Degli Orrori will tilt the project into the more 'accesible' range, which is certainly different for Zu. And the production seems a bit more trendy, (maybe?), I mean to say that it's unlike any Zu I've heard, which is appealing.
But it seems like this website isn't very english-friendly, I'm having difficulty ordering the record. And it's too bad because a Zu record with only 666 copies is a hard offer to pass up. |

Yes, "Il Teatro.." are definitely more "rock" in a kind of standard meaning, even if their lyrics really do stand out compared with almost every other italian rock (and not just rock, actually) band..
By the way, side A is "Nostalgia" (08:21) I guess a 8+ mins song will be kinda less rocking and more strange ("zu-isher" ? ). Regarding international orders, maybe try to send them a message via myspace, the label's account is http://www.myspace.com/arrivalatempesta or send a mail to their address info@treallegriragazzimorti.it I really don't know what's their "policy" for overseas orders, I never dealt with them before.. Also, the new songs Zu played at recent lives (supposedly stuff from their other record coming out soon, "Intermediate Spirit Receiver" are quite different from their usual output. Great stuff.

Hey, thanks again! I think that worked.
I'm excited for the release of ISR, trying to imagine ZU with turntables and synths. Also, did everyone pick up last year's Black Engine record? That was some more classic ZU material, if you feel you're missing that. |

I'd say "igneo" is a good start. Powerful, awesomely recorded, and they still play a good amount of songs from that album live.
