sweets and the decline in flavour

now i have noticed that the sweets i used to eat as a child flying saucers, cola cubes, sherbert pips, pear drops, fruit salads etc have been re done but are not tasting the same or as good as when i was a boy. i am eating a cola cube at the monent that tastes like cola but can you ever remember them ever tasting like cola? a sad day.

yeah, the other day i bought some black jacks for old times sake and they tasted crap, i don't think it's the sweets that have changed though, i think it's us.

as you get older, some of yr tastebuds die and you become less sensitive to the sense of taste (smoking and nasal problems can make this even worse).

but who cares about tastebuds? you have nefeli as a stalker. congrats.

two reasons. as you get older the taste buds in yr mouth that sense sweetnes are dulled and the taste buds in yr mouth that sense bitterness and sourness are enhanced. when a child you need energy and energy comes from sweet. as an adult you need vitamins and inerals and nourishment and bitter foods have that (think of spinach and brocolli and mustard and such foods.)

also, since the company ADM has momnopolized corn production in the USA they have shoved corn syrup down the nation's throats as a sweeteener instea dof sugar, which the USA does not grow much of. Most candies and sodas are now made with corn syrups. this is why when you get a "honeybun" at the convenience store it is oily and slimy. the corn syrup seeps out of it. old candies and baked treats were made with sugar which crystalizes most delicious and allows for no slime and crispy flakey goodness.

go to mexico and have a coca cola, made with REAL CANE SUGAR and your taste buds will explode.

oh so many years ago fast food and sweet stuff, i do remember it tasting really good and the smell of fast food was like a tongue boner, but now when ever i pass near a mcdonalds i just get nauseous, literally a queasy feeling when i smell it

and the corn syrup shit, it's hard not to find things that don't have it unless you have an organic market, you'd be amazed the wondering giving up soda and all it's sweetener can do for your body
