good job they've added another show in london as that gig at the lumiaire sold out a couple of weeks ago, 2 days after the promoters announced it only on their mailing list.

Sold out already? Shows how much keener London folk are for decent music (or there are much more hipsters buying up tickets to whichever band is 'cool' right now....probably a bit of both). The Cardiff one went on sale a couple of weeks ago I think and I got a ticket the other day.

it's hipsters. the last lightning bolt show in london had a queue stretching down the street and round the corner and it was filled with the type of people who only check out bands if they get mentioned in Time Out or Dazed & Confused.

But the other London show is at The Garage, which is a fucking hipsters' paradise. I hate that place with a passion, every show I've been to there the bands have been drowned out by the people talking at the back, no matter how loud the band is. The acoustics at the place are just fucking awful.

the shows i've seen there in the last year have all been good and i couldn't hear any talking (melt banana, boris, high on fire & fursaxa) but i tend to go quite near the front... maybe i'm deaf, or have become accustomed that whatever venue you go to in london, unless the crowd in 100 people or less there are always going to be fuckers at the back talking.
the recent sunn o))) & earth show that i went to was the worst i've ever been to as far as annoying pricks go. |

the leeds show a while back was filled with the usual scene stealing douchebags that you would expect. a few weeks later there were half a dozen bands all very similar to lb being treated as some kind of creative geniuses.
