On Dec 31st, 2006 Valentine records, a small label and distro outfit in Manchester England, released its final offering: A tribute to Sonic Youth with all the acts on the label doing a complete cover of 'DIRTY'. The compilation of covers (including artwork) is available for free download here:
www.valentinerecords.co.uk The versions range from stripped down Americana to full on Electro, glitchy broken hip-hop and a fair bit of Youth-inspired guitar noise. Oh, and the version of Creme Brulee includes a brass section. Nice. |

It sounds like a cool idea for the cover versions sound so...out of place. It's like coming back home to find someone else moved into your bedroom.
