. . . one after the other. a double jap dose of the finest.
Never seen em before. Ghost were from another time and place and put me somewhere near there. Their lead guitarist mentally nob-sucked me till i shot wonder juices around in my brain. I'm more familiar with Cornelius' music. But the live show was far more than i'd hoped for. The visuals and playing was just gorgeous. too much. i wanked off to it in my dreams that night. |

Er, right.
Who else did you see? And what were your opinions? Try to keep the sexual metaphors to a minimum, if at all possible. |

yeah, sorry i couldn't help it. they were really that good. daniel johnston was . . . . daniel johnston. i enjoyed him. a lot. mogwai were alright. . . . . okay they were shit. I liked the tall firs a lot although i was pretty fucked by that point so my memory of it is hazy. i've bought the cd since and it is good. I better not say too much about Subtitle because he was that special i will have to revert to the sexy metaphors . . . i will say however that the next morning we hooked up with that crazy loon at the shellac gig. he started going off on one about his love for sonic youth and we were in heavenly mutual agreement. so much so that he ended up coming back to our chalet to buy weed because he didn't want to bring any on the plane with him. Shellac were just about the best thing i saw all weekend. but i could've told you that before i went. Their second show on the sunday was on the better stage but was a less impassioned performance. Bob told us he had taken 8 nurofen. Todd started on some dude in the crowd who kept shouting 'you suck'. Proper ripped in to the fucker. beautiful. The go! team pleased the hell out of my face and limbs . . . Battles clashed with Ghost so i missed them, but you already know my feelings about ghost so i don't care about that. although i did hear many a good thing about that battles show. Patti smith was patti smith . . . still rocking strong. Saw Trans Am late sat night and was nicely surprised with what i caught. I've always heard good things . . . yeah, i might have to look into some of their stuff. any recommendations where to start? On sunday we saw the headache shellac show. Then slint. Who i fucking love. but who sounded a bit shit on that pavillion stage with all its fucking echoing and lost sound etc. Doesn't matter though. I'll get to see them properly in august. Modest Mouse were crap. Isis were bloody stupid. But i liked that. The whole thing finished off perfectly with Do Make Say Think. Who I've been a big fan of for a while now but not had the chance to see. Played all the right songs and played them beautifully so that they are still in my head now almost a week later. Definately one of the highlights. All very worth it. Drove home with a very large erection . . . shit, sorry. |

yes yes rob. i hear ya. just go man that's all i can say. it blew me away. sounded so good and i didn't know they do all the visual aspect with it aswell. y'know how you think you love a band immensely and then you go and see them? and your love for them goes through the roof like it was not possible to admire any more than that? that's me and cornelius last weekend that is. |

Does this mean you didn't see Capricorns? I told you to see Capricorns. If you'd seen Capricorns you'd be having to type standing up.

tut. you didn't exactly tell me to see capricorns though. they were just in your list of who you'd see. and they were in nobody else's list of who to see. Why are they so great then? what did i miss? or maybe it would be better if i didn't know eh? |

believe me man, there aint nothing boring about that shit live. and yes, ghost are cool. fuck me. like nothing i've ever seen. magical, mystical, other-worldly. you know that simpsons episode with the ninja standing there doing nothing and homer saying 'watch him, watch him, he's gonna do something' . . . the bassist was like that. he looked so uninterested for about 20 minutes just hitting the odd note here and there. but fuck me did he unleash some shit on us. hell. they all did. |

i went to see ghost in london earlier this week and i left early because they were boring as hell. it was like bon jovi meets ccr or something, 70s rock n' roll ballads.
capricorns are a bit like a metal mogwai |

i meant it as a description rather than a compliment or slight. i've seen capricorns a few times supporting other bands, and i enjoyed watching them, which is more than i can say for mogwai.
anyway, i'd have thought you'd be at the fields of the nephilim gig at the astoria tonight. |
