I absolutely can't stand commercials, so regardless of if it is entertaining or not, when my TV is ever on, it is on PBS. so all of you out there, support PBS with your $$$ cuz I dont and it seems they are hurting...

i don't get cable because i think paying for tv is a ripoff the only ones i'd actually pay for are: IFC channel HBO however, getting those requires getting some sort of stupid basic packages and then do an add on-- so i'd rather rent movies daily. yes. so the only channel worth checking out is: this one |

My favorite TV network is the Portland library system. I go online and put what I want on hold and then pick it up from the one right near my house when it comes in. It's a little slower if I want to watch a current series (usually a year behind), but then I can do it on my schedule without any commercials.

I need to pay my library account so I don't have to buy books.

I'm lucky to be in a city where that's very much the case. In Olympia, it wasn't nearly so convenient and the selection was way less. Currently I have checked out: the second season of the new Doctor Who, Stalker by Tarkovsky, AI by Speilberg, 28 Days Later, Aelita Queen of Mars (a 1924 silent Soviet film that did monumental structuralist SF before Metropolis, and based on a Tolstoy story no less), and Super Size Me. I can't even find the time to watch all that stuff, so I have no idea how people find the time to sit in front of generic t.v. shit every day! Thankfull, the library here lets you renew online as well (so long as somebody else doesn't have a hold on it too, so the Tarkovsky and Doctor Who I have to get done in a month.) |
