Sightings Take Andrew W.K. Through The Panama
Wednesday October 10, 2007 @ 05:30 PM By: ChartAttack.com Staff Sightings Party-hearty artist/producer Andrew W.K. took time off from his motivational speaking sideline to take the studio controls for the latest noise complaint-worthy album by Brooklyn, New York's Sightings. Through The Panama, the noise rockers' sixth album, will be released on CD by Load Records on Oct. 23 and on vinyl by Thurston Moore's Ecstatic Peace label five days later. The title track and "A Rest" can be previewed on the Sightings' MySpace page. Bassist Richard Hoffman, drummer Jonathan Lockie and guitarist/vocalist Mark Morgan are touring in support of the album. Here are the Sightings' Canadian dates:

Yeah, I listened to this a few weeks ago. It's alright... dig some of the weird grinding clangy sounds, but... uhm.. I dunno. It has its moments. Funny you should mention the Liars thing, Pauly.. I've only heard one other Sightings record, and it sounded identical to They Were Wrong So We Drowned-era Liars to me -- but I thought it was just me. Didn't realize that people shared that opinion. Heh.

I don't understand where these meh-sayers are coming from. This is a 99th-percentile band of sonic impact and originality. And, yes...this album is their best yet, I believe. I'd say start with this album and work it backwards.

i have probably listened to arrived in gold 7 times in all, and i have never made it to the end of that album. by the third song, i'm bored to death and have to put something else to get rid of the dire feeling.
