Quote: Properly, "the real deal" isn't the original silver bootleg cd, but the dvd-r of the broadcast. The sound on the cd and cdr is sourced from the video.
... So I guess that getting a copy of that is out of the question? |

Understood... but I'd still really like a silver CD of BLASTIC SCENE, as well as a silver CD of WALLS HAVE EARS.
I have many other SY silver CD boots I'd be willing to trade if anyone's interested? Or if someone wants to sell either, shoot me a price to consider? |

I don't have the silver cd...
http://www.sonicyouth.com/mustang/lp/boot2.html just the cd-r, like you. I do think one of my copies of this show is lossless though, so that's essentially the same as the original bootleg, minus the artwork. Actually, I have reproduced the artwork (at least somewhat) too. If you examine the notes for the date of the show... http://www.sonicyouth.com/mustang/cc/071493.html it's stated that a "private video source" exists. This audience-shot private video source has been synched-up with the soundboard audio from the bootleg and there is a dvd-r of this that also circulates. It looks like it was originally shot on a VHS camcorder and, some unknown generation of VHS later, transferred to digital. In other words, the picture quality isn't all that incredible, but it sounds good (except for a few brief drop-outs). |

i have the silver disc that i purchased from the fanclub way way way back in the day, sorry that i'm not willing to part with it eventhough i think its not really that great sounding. i also have a dvdr of this show and its horrible video quality and its in PAL which for me in the US means i can only view it on my laptop.
best of luck. |

I originally replied here (Sonic Nurse/Daydream set), but decided to move my post as to not bump the other thread.
Quote:
This is horrible. That's a fucked up item you've found there. It's clearly a pirated copy on two cd-rs of the Daydream Nation and Sonic Nurse albums. My guess would be that the discs are probably plain silver with no markings since the top face of either of the discs is not pictured. Obviously, the artwork is also unauthorized use. The seller has printed some jpegs of another of Richard Prince's nurse paintings and printed that. (I've used some R. Prince artwork in making covers of Nurse-era live shows but, of course, I'm not selling them). Moreover, the slap-dash back cover betrays that there is no chance that this is a rare promotional foreign release as purported and/or insinuated. |

yeah I figured it had to be a bootleg, considering the strange idea of putting those 2 albums together.

It'll be another of those Chinese pirates that were posted in one of the discog threads, rather something knocked up by the seller.

I'd trade silver cd of any of these:
"100% Rebel," "Chronic Youth: Unite And Slam" "Who Ate All The Cracklin' Oat Bran" "Sonic Jazz" For a silver CD of "Blastic Scene." |

Bearing in mind the rarity of the Blastic Scene CD, and the fact that the only people who are likely to have it are Sonic Youth collectors, I really don't fancy your chances of getting someone on here to part with their copy.

Yeah I know. My hope was that some collector somehow had 2 copies.
In the past I've been known to grab an extra copy of an original I already had so that I could offer it up in trade. Worth a shot? |
