One of most fantastic bands on the planet is going intercontinental. The Monterrey, Mexico outer-zoning psych-punk savants, Los Llamarada, begin a short European tour this weekend in Belgium. On the strength of their incredible debut LP, The Exploding Now on S-S Records (one of my tip-top picks of 2007), Los Llamarada have played just a handful of shows in Austin, Texas, and Northern California. If you follow AFS, you probably already know that this band is very special. I was very fortunate to catch the band twice here in Davis where they riveted nearly everyone in attendance with their deceptively simple mix of skeletal rhythm, vocal anguish, icy keys, and swervin'/snarlin' surfadelic guitar. In 2007, S-S also released their first 7", The Very Next Moment, and S-S has scheduled their second album, Take the Sky, for an April release. Here's their Europe tour schedule: Sat, 2 Feb in Hasselt, Belgium @ K-RAA-Kł Festival, KC Belgie Sun, 3 Feb in Den Haag, Netherlands @ Helbaard @ Den Haag, Netherlands Wed, 6 Feb in Cologne, Germany @ Kulturbunker Thu, 7 Feb in Diksmuide, Belgium @ 4AD Fri, 8 Feb in Antwerp, Belgium @ La Campine Bar Dusted did an excellent feature about Los Llamarada here: http://www.dustedmagazine.com/features/704 More info at http://www.myspace.com/losllamarada

Saw them this weekend. They were pretty good although I enjoyed Blues Control (who were also playing) best. |

blues control can be good but then not so much, not sure about it live, at least on disc.

Blues Control might come to the UK later in the year. They were due to play a festival in Leeds in April but had to pull out but might come back at a later date.

from what i've heard blues control only played 2 gigs in europe (hasselt and den haag) in the weekend because they couldn't take longer off. they'll probably be back.

Are there any plans for a Los Llamarada UK tour anytime in the future?
