Public Enemy performed their seminal album It Takes A Nation of Millions To Hold Us Back in it's entirity for the first time ever at Brixton academy last night, and I loved every fucking minute of it. There was a great atmosphere for the whole of the night, helped by three brilliant support acts; Edan, Anti-Pop Consortium and Dr. Octogon. Chuck D and Flava Flav were on top form, after doing one of the greatest ever albums justice they treated us to a storming set of other Public Enemy classics.
Heres a link to what I saw, Flav's rather self-indulgent but nonetheless pretty emotive speach at the end of the gig - "FUCK RACISM!". http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=5E17TBDNIik (If your wondering why he's not wearing his trademark hat its because he crowd surfered and the audience ripped it, not to his amusement) Best gig of 2008, no question of that. |

I love these things where they play whole albums because it helps show some of the kids how truly awesome a full album of fuully realised songs is, in this day and age of individualy enjoying songs

Your absolutely right there. I kind of wish P.E. hadn't played other hits after the album, only for that reason really. |

yup brilliant night, the bomb squad's dj set was amazing, kind of cursed the somewhat murky sound but still, a brilliant show.
