Mark Felt, the man who blew the whistle on the Watergate scandal and helped bring down U.S. President Richard Nixon, has died aged 95.
Felt, codenamed Deep Throat by Washington Post reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, fed the duo information about corruption within Nixon's government which led to the president's resignation in 1974. source: imdb.com |

Good, big man in COITENLPRO.
Point of observation: everyone is always crying about Watergate, big ground shaking assault on democracy, etc - anyone know just what exactly those clowns Liddy and Hunt were doing there? Any idea? Any suggestion? So what we have here is some grubby break in, for who knows what reason. Well now how does that rate next to the aforementioned COINTELPRO? Secret bombing of Cambodia? Assassination of Fred Hampton? Overthrow of Chiles government? Or a hundred other state crimes committed before, during, and after the Nixon administration? Why dont we hear about them but we're inundated with Watergate? Could it be because it is ultimately meaningless - except perhaps one half of the powerful reacting against the other half overstepping the rules of good behaviour - while the establishment is in agreement that those other topics do not right for polite conversation?
