well, this is just a mix of previously released collabs, not a new album of collabs like the king geedorah record was. not that it won't be good to have these tracks all on the same release, but when i saw this thread i was way more excited than i would have been had i known

yeah. I saw the tracklist. I think I've heard everything. And have most. But still. New DOOM album!!
This is sort of like an update to his GUEST SHOTS mixtape from Day By Day back in the day.

As someone who loves DOOM, has all his studio albums, but has never bought any of the mix tapes ETC that these collab tracks are from, this is just pure fucking gravy for me.

The only mixtapes I get are official ones (meaning, promos made by the labels like the Day By Day ones or Rhymesayers etc). I'm not a fan of unofficial garbagedj mixes or bootlegs.

Here's the supposed tracklisting (and annotations by NR)
1. Get ‘Er Done feat. DOOM - Jake One (haven't heard it) 2. Fly That Knot feat. DOOM - Talib Kweli (awesome song taken from one of Talib's indie albums) 3. Sniper Elite feat. DOOM - Dilla Ghostface DOOM (recently released by Stonesthrow as mp3-only under the name Dilla Ghost Doom.) 4. Trap Door feat. DOOM - Jake One (haven't heard it) 5. Sorcerers feat. DOOM & Invizible Handz - John Robinson (first released as a KMD track on a Nature Sounds compilation, then re-released last year on the John Robinson album WHO IS JOHN ROBINSON? this is a great chillout track) 6. Da Supafriendz - Vast Aire (amazing amazing track! originally on a Vast's first album) 7. Quite Buttery - Count Bass D feat DOOM (a good track from Coun't DWIGHT SPITZ album I believe) 8. ? - DOOM featuring Kurious (strange inclusion as it's from OPERATION DOOMSDAY) 9. All Outta Ale - DOOM (sooooo good! I think originally on a Nature Sounds comp, and then remixes on MM Leftovers and other promos) 10. E.N.Y. House - Masta Killa (awesome MK song produced by Doom and originally on MK's 2nd album which was just okay) 11. Bells of DOOM - DOOM (very good DOOMSDAY era bside produced by The Professor, originally on Convexed comp, and pressumably on the scrapped Doom/Professor collab album) 12. My Favorite Ladies - DOOM (Classic DOOMSDAY era track. Should have been on DOOMSDAY in fact.) 13. Street Corners (Remix) - Masta Killa, Inspectah Deck & GZA (awesome, even if there's already been enough versions of this track.)

in case it needs to be said, Doom is my favorite rapper. Ever. And I'm pretty hardcore in my obsession.

the tracklist is kinda unexciting :/
i was expecting it to all be collabs with other rappers, but there's stuff prod. by him not featuring his voice, and some tracks where he's the only emcee, i don'tn know. it'll be good but i wanted to hear some heavy verbal sparring and i wanted to hear the catchy "more soup" no creme, no sugar, moka only.... |

I hope that this is only the first volume in a series. Cuz he's got a boxset worth of amazing collabs floating around out there. Seriously.

sorry, wrong room. I thought you meant a different kind of Doom. I assume were not talking about this kind of thing, right?
Sorry to interrupt. I'll exit quietly. |

Yeah but mixing his productions with his guestshots is a very Doom-y thing to do. That's what most of his albums are. He always has tracks on his album that he doesn't even rap on, someone else does. But yes. "More Soup" is amazing!

The DangerDoom album was far from lame.
As much as I want to believe the GhostDoom collab will happen for real, I keep thinking that we each newly trickled track they'll run out of material.

I disagree. Here's some Danger Mouse albums I like besides DD:
The Grey Album Gorillaz - Demon Dayz Beck - Modern Guilt DM & Jemini's album was pretty good, though I liked DM's production more than Jemini's rhymes. Also, PARIS wasn't really good, but it was amusing.

The Mouse and the Mask is pretty decent, but then again it could hardly not be with Doom and Danger Mouse involved though. It's definitely something of a lightweight release though, compared to any of Doom's other studio albums, a few great track notwithstanding. I'm not a big Adult Swim person though, so that probably influences me. Danger Mouse however is fantastic producer. Anyone who disagrees needs to go away, listen to the Grey Album, come back, and apologise. Demon Days is also, yes, great. I personally like his work on The Good, the Bad, and the Queen quite a bit.
Back to the subject of Unexpected Guests, I just really hope this gets a nice vinyl release, because it'd be really great to have some of these tracks on wax for the first time...

Obviously The Mouse And The Mask doesn't hold up to the classic Doom albums. But it's not a bad album either. It's more of a fun chillout record. That's all. Some exceptional tracks on there though.
