good places to place band ads?

You could also use a heavy duty staple gun and staple index card-sized adverts to you forehead for hours of fun!

Not ones of a certain type, the type that just advertise band, venue, time of show, etc. There's no personal info on the sign about who stapled the poster to the pole. Could be anybody, any fan with an interest in the band. A band can't be held liable for what its out-of-control fans might do.

There are some municipalities that will fine the venue if posters for shows at their establishment are put up illegally by anyone. I don't know what the rules are on that here.
