I've held fast to the belief that Hex Enduction Hour is the best thing they've ever done. Ever since I got really into them one summer and realized, while collecting, that the album wasn't in print in the U.S. I placed an order at a local record store and bought an imported deluxe 2xcd edition. It was like Christmas. Everything down to the packaging was absolutely perfect. But I think I've really neglected some other key albs like This Nation's Saving Grace and Grotesque. But I am boooooored as hell and wanted to ask what you kind folks thought.

I can't believe they're still making music. Fall Heads Roll was the last album of their that I paid attention to. It was good, but not compared to their glory days.

My fave is probably Perverted by Language but it changes all the time and I like pretty much everything up to I am Kurious Oranj. I know there are some here who vehemently disagree but I think that after that they became more of an institution than anything else. They had about 10-12 great years in them, which I'd say is about the maximum period that any band has managed before they either (best case scenario) give up, or (in the case of The Fall) begin to trade on their reputation. |

Nations saving grace some days. Perverted others. Hex every once in a while, but I'm afraid hip priest has been a bit overplayed and overly praised for me, so I tend to avoid it. Just as I avoid Love will tear us apart. Great songs both, but if you head anything too much it starts to sound ordinary. I don't want that fate to befall my favorite artists.
You're right about Fall Heads Roll though, E. That was a good solid album, even though a tune from it ended up on a truck commercial. Not sure how in the hell that happened. |
