What i think is a testament to a great band is discovering that even with great lps the bands could still deliver amazing songs tossed off as extra tracks on a single and could actually beat stuff that came out on their albums.
this thread is dedicated to those b-sides that should have gotten a little more recognition. some of my favorites: Beatles- Rain http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2N2tymDcFo&feature=fvst Medicine- World Hello http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGiIYxXQTt4 Husker Du- Gotta Lotta http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1E-83VQRTbs Pixies- Wave of Mutilation (UK Surf) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvHJOus1pRo My Bloody valentine - Dont Ask Why http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRHqSqpWYUE Sonic Youth- My Arena http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LH9uHzH6JY

Jesus and Mary Chain have a great set of b-sides, songs that represent the band as well or better than most albums.
Spiritualized as well. SY obviously. Pavement, though due to the reissue series I'm sure many take their rare tracks for granted. |

Swervedriver's b-sides are legendary for a reason.

Pavement were cool in that regard because most of their off the wall, "what the fuck was that?" songs were b-sides, so you're listening to a different side of the band a lot of times.
It was cool to have that dynamic and Spiral was smart doing it that way. ~Jeremy~

The Rolling Stones - Think I'm Going Mad
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpwibosWVpg That song would really have lifted up Undercover, even though it is an incredible album only that people just don't get it. |
