Are not really geniuses. Most of them just googled "how to solve a rubix cube," memorized it, and then learned to do it really fast. A big waste of time. I'd rather waste more time figuring out one myself.

A pyramid shape made up of 4 equilateral triangles, each chopped into 9 rotating segments. This puzzle is not quite as hard as the Rubik's Cube, but it is still equally as entertaining.

I could solve the Pyraminx by Tomy (above) easily. It's fun.
I finally did solve Alexander's Star, a dodecahedron puzzle (below), too.

 

I never did solve Rubik's Cube (without removing the blocks). I'm guessing though that I could do it now if I had one still.

I had the Missing Link and Rubik's Snake thing (below) also. (and several smaller 'snake' knock-offs).
Hey, it was the '80s puzzle craze. I recommend any of these as excellent toys.

i used to have a guide memorized, but it really is pointless. i just came up with some strategies and went from there. i'm kind of fast, i guess.

The problem with the internet is that it ruins the fun of sitting down with a pen and paper. I did the rubix by painstaking maths once, as I did solitaire at one point. I imagine if I was horrifically bored and single enough I could do it again.

I find it most impresive when people are allowed to examine the cube first, but then have to solve it blindfolded, following each square in their mind as they solve it....or memorizing the moves needed to solve it before they're blindfolded

I practiced quite a bit when I was a child, and after a while I could take the thing to pieces and put it back together again pretty quickly, although I never timed myself.

I was much slower at doing it the so-called 'proper' way.

Anyways, I know a bunch of people who can solve them insanely fast but it doesn't really interest me.

No, I was looking at an old friend's online profile and it said they liked solving rubix cubes, and I just remember sitting at a bench outside watching these asian kids solve them in under a minute again and again and scratching my head thinking "where's the fun in that?" (They openly admitted to looking it up online.)

Then I'd play with one for 20 minutes and be frustrated. Apparently they had a whole box of them. I asked if I could have one and they said "sure" then forgot about it. Weird kids.

Oh, and then there are people who memorize pi. Which is dorkier? Memorizing how to solve a rubix cube or memorizing pi?

No. the internet guide will show different combonations of one color, and show you how to solve that one side, and then flip it over and indicate the different combonations of what to do in each assortment. It's pretty simple if you memorize it, that's how I learned to solve it

i've tried the rubik cube for a while when i was about 12, but i couldn't solve it... i don't know if i could do it now that i'm older, but i guess not and i'm definitely not bored enough to try it.

but at least i did manage to solve the rubik's clock. that was at around the same age and i had figured out my own system for that... i was pretty proud of it at the time, but it's much easier than the cube and i just saw on youtube that there are people who can solve it in around 12 seconds...

 

you can play some rubik's puzzles online, but it's more difficult than when you actually have them in your hands.
