Damn I wanna punch Greg Kinnear in the face.
BTW, if this movie was nominated for an academy award, why wasn't You, Me, and Everyone We Know last year? It is a similar film and I'd say perhaps better- although I haven't finished Little Miss Sunshine yet. |

I've never seen this movie. I like Greg Kinnear. I did see the other movie you mentioned though, and wasn't impressed with it at all.

Its a great movie, don't compare the two films too much, they may both be great, its like saying "Happiness" should have gotten more acknowledgement then "American Beauty".

I paused the movie because I had to take a quick break and figured I'd go on the boards during my little break. I wasn't posting while watching it.
I liked the movie- but this chick I knew practically orgasmed when talking about the movie. It was a good movie, but it wasn't that good. It was a subtle dramady that all the sudden turned into Napoleon Dynamite at the end. But there is a difference between being subtle, and perhaps leaving a bit too much out. The sound track was your typical emotionally suggestive new age BS that are in these types of movies. Greg Kinnear's character makes up for himself at the end when he gets off his high horse and realizes what he really is. |

You should. Steve Carell and Alan Arkin are pretty good in it. Steve Carell doesn't play the usual sort of character he does, but some of his comedy is worked in just a tad.

good movie. The hospital scene and the ending of the beauty pageant are classic (though I couldn't bear to watch them for tension reasons, I could hear my parents laughing their asses off)

rarrrrr this movie was not as good as everyone says it to be. if it were the first dark comedy ever made, then yeah it would be good. but it's not and films such as royal tennenbaums were way better. ahhhhhh! you me and everyone we know was jsut weird and creepy, the whole time i was like what, creepy old men and lesbian girls!, little boys with 40 year odl women!>>!> !

I didn't really like the Tenenbaums movie either now that I think about it. It wasn't completely horrible, but there have been a lot of movies made of late that are in a similar vein, that being the OH GEE LOOK AT HOW QUIRKY OUR FAMILY IS, HOW WILL WE EVER COPE vein. Or maybe I'm the only one who is sick of seeing this act as a substitute for an actual plot.
