Peter Weir is to direct the film of William Gibson's Pattern Recognition. I'm excited about this but think an unknown should play Cayce Pollard. Although I think I would rather Cronenberg direct the film because of his background in cyberpunk style films like existent and scanners etc.

Oh geez, I knew I shouldve read that next.
Anyways, it's next! After this biography about Albert Fish. Why do you like Pattern Recognition so much, T Pharm ? It is your favorite William Gibson novel ? I'm always excited when new directors/actors show up to take on shit like this. Cronenberg is on such a different buzz right now. |

after just finishing The Bridge Trilogy or the second time, I'm sorely disappointed to hear that Pattern Recognition is next.
I understand that The Sprawl Trilogy would be hard to make, but how hard would it be to render an Idoru?? fuck. |

yeah idoru would be awesome, im not exactly sure why they chosse Pattern Recog but im not the one funding it so ill be happy to watch it.
I reckon ATP is my fav of the bridge trilogy and ive just started the sprawl trilogy. i think spook country would make for a better film the PR though. |

While I was reading Pattern Recognition, I kept thinking about how much better it would be as a movie than a novel.

yes to cronenberg. i think peter weir sucks mostly. picnic at hanging rock and the last wave were great but that was ages ago. master and commander? kill me now... anyway i hope he doesn't cast any overbearing "superstars" for this. i have this very clear image of cayce in my mind that would be ruined by some overly familiar face. btw i'm about to start spook country. |

I have read several Gibson books and I do not enjoy them. They bore me.
