"With sadness we note the passing this week of our friend, the great Spanish flamenco singer Enrique Morente. Sonic Youth was lucky enough to work with Il Maestro in 2005, when together in Valencia we performed his work “Omega”. He was also kind enough to grace us with his presence, and his voice, at the opening performance of our ‘Sensational Fix: Sonic Youth etc” museum show in Madrid in 2009. From straight traditional flamenco to the way far out, Enrique was interested in it all. He will be missed.
