I uploaded this for you:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=TNCWH3KD A good friend of mine (the guy who also got me all the sun city girls cloaven tapes) scanned this. Some new korine book called devils and babies. It's only 20 pages, but it was limited to 150 copies. Pretty cool. |

A Crack up at the Race Riots was pretty cool as a Korine fan and as someone who just likes weird stuff. My library has it, and seeing as nobody takes it out and it's probably around a hundred dollars i might as well steal it. This looks pretty neat.
Also there's some news on his website about 'Trash Humpers' some movie he did thats coming out soon i think. Looked killer.

Crazy. I'm not a fan of his films, for the most part (and I also hate Kids and Ken Park), but I do like him alright.

No prob.
I bought Julien Donkey-Boy last night at a pawn shop for $3. I'd only seen it once before, a long time ago, and I thought it was boring, but I'm going to rewatch again in a few minutes, maybe I'll love it. |

Didn't realize it was rare.
I am almost done with it, I just came on here to check my email and get something to eat. But yeah, I like it a LOT more than the first time I watched it. |

When in 2006 Sylvester Stallone was asked in an Aint It Cool News interview to name his favorite films, he answered: "I like a lot of films from the 70s. I don’t like to speak specifically because sometimes people get offended. But, my taste runs from The Godfather to julien donkey-boy, so it’s hard to pin me down on that subject."

Trash Humpers is the first Korine film that I didn't really like that much.
And yeah, I'd say Julien Donkey-boy is pretty rare, in the hard-for-me-to-find-in-the-real-world sorta sense. |

I got Julien Donkey Boy at Big Lots for $3. There were like a thousand copies there. I remember buying MANIAC! from there many years ago, also for $3. I've gotten so many badass movies... at Big Lots. My first exposure to Argento, DePalma, etc.
I've seen all of Korine's films and related films except Trash Humpers, some many times, and I don't care for any of them except Julien. He's a very average director. He has good tastes, though -- OUT OF THE BLUE by Dennis Hopper, all the Godard, and Mike Leigh's NAKED are some of his favorite films, and are mine too. He also is a HUGE Giuseppe Andrews fan, and Trash Humpers looks like a TOuch Me in the Morning/Period Piece type thing, so I am going to definitely buy the VHS. |

And, of course, I saw Trash Humpers, and it's not very good but still better than Mister Lonely, which is so boring.
ANYWAY "Filmmaker Harmony Korine now lives in Nashville, but for a time he was Big Apple to the core. The director of Gummo and next month’s Trash Humpers tells New Yorkers—and their big feet—what he doesn’t miss about the city." -Black Book Magazine 1. Crowded whorehouses. I don’t like when the line spills out into the street. In Jackson Heights, I saw a Puerto Rican man in a karate suit get run over by a taxicab while waiting in line. As he was being put in the ambulance, I heard him say, “After karate class, I always need to bust my nut off. This wasn’t supposed to happen to me. Not like this.” I heard he died shortly after. 2. Dishonest oyster bars. I went to an oyster bar in the summer of 1982 that served cat meat instead of real oysters. Somehow they made the cat meat look and taste nearly identical to the type of mediocre synthetic oysters that you can find growing in the tanks of Sheepshead Bay. I remember that the horseradish was a strange fluorescent orange color. I should have known something was wrong when they were only charging five cents an oyster and everyone eating looked like they had throat cancer. 3. The Nigerian rat salesmen of 14th Street. Those guys are relentless. 4. White supremacists disguised as stockbrokers. 5. Cheap hotels that charge by the minute to accommodate the growing American trend of premature ejaculators. 6. Elementary school boys with facial hair. 7. Shoe stores that carry only huge sizes for massive feet. I’m not sure why so many of these places are popping up now. Maybe it has to do with the increase in juvenile steroid use? 8. There’s a drugstore uptown, by a church, which has two full rows of douche bottles. On Sundays, the owner rents the place out for mock gay weddings, and once a month they throw an underground rave for pampered dykes. In the mornings, it always smells of tuna fish and lime juice. 9. The influx of Finnish hand-job parlors is a nuisance and an eyesore. It reminds me of Prohibition. We need to close down these places before they rot our collective moral fabric and corrupt our beautiful, wayward children. 10. There are way too many incarcerated people now. Death row is bursting at the seams. We need to set the prisoners free. We need to give each of them a healthy mule and a gift certificate to Starbucks. We need to legalize arson and turn toward communism. |
