I believe the world has just been made aware of the insanity of the motor sport after the 15-car crash at the Las Vegas Indy 300 which resulted in the tragic death of Dan Wheldon. Apparently the average speed of the cars was 225mph! I'm not normally interested in Indy Racing but what happened at the weekend has certainly opened my eyes to it.

Car races are an tremendous waste of resources. But with the incredible amount of taxes generated from 50,000 spectators - sales tax, tax on profits, tax on gasoline for spectator's cars, tolls paid, etc. - this will never be prohibited. Nevertheless, the drivers know the risks and they are adults, the spectators know the risks, let's keep the fucking nanny state out of it. I'm so sick of the State monopoly on death.
