What are all known acoustic performances? (dates/setlists?) I'm surprised there's never been a bootleg compilation of all these few and far in betweens.

OK so I don't know the dates on these, but I know there was the "infamous" bridge school benefit which I don't know what songs? I think only 3.
There was a 2nd bridge school benefit I believe? No idea on songs. There was the radio set in Boston in 2002 that had "Empty Page," "Disconnection," and I think "Rain On Tin." You could maybe count the 9/5/00 set that had Lee, Jim and Steve play with Eddie Vedder? I think they did "Mote" and some covers acoustic? There was the solo Thurston set where he debuted some RATHER RIPPED tracks? People, help me patch this mishmash into something more accurate. |

Yeah...here's the info on that 2nd bridge school thing....it's available for download in Ingram's lossless archive thread....
Bridge School Benefit 18 10-23-2004Shoreline AmphitheatreMountain View, CAlineage: Schoeps > DAT > optical > WAV > FLAClocation: in one of the lower sectionsSonic Youth 01. I Love You Golden Blue *02. Stones 03. Unmade Bed 04. Paper Cup Exit 05. Rain on Tin*) w/ Lee on pump organ + Jim on piano Sonic Youth returned to Neil Young's all acousticBridge School Benefit for the first time in 13 years after the infamous disastrous performance in 1991. This time, however, they came prepared, and delivered a flawless set of precise, tightly constructed Nurse material w/ a mind-blowing "Rain on Tin" to close the show. Lee got to play Neil's pump organ during "Golden Blue" (and Jim got to play his grand piano). 07/11/06 Los Angeles, CA Indie 103 FM studios -- Jonesy's Jukebox Two songs from that....Incinerate and Sleeping Around, IIRC.

There were three School Benefit Concerts (one Goo era and 2 Nurse era) and i think that's all the acoustic performances as a 4(5) members band. There were some other solo acoustic performances of SY songs mostly by Thurston (BBC6, Flywheel, the poetry reading and performance from archive.org, the Bostson FM session with lee and jim you've mentioned and some few others)
BTW: Does anybody have a proper lossless version of Thurston acoustic performance debuting Rather Ripped songs at the Flywheel and also performing the encore with Matt Krefting and Jessi Swenson? I had it in mp3 somewhere, but i can't find it :| |

I thought about doing an all-acoustic theme for one of the Picks volumes but,
since they are mostly sort of lackluster, opted not to do so. The best one by far is the WERS-FM Boston 8/13/02 which is just Thurston, Lee & Jim. Oh, and the Jonesy's Jukebox '06 is entertaining for a lot of reasons including Steve Jones' impromptu "drumming." I really would have liked it if the band would have done The Bridge Benefit with Rather Ripped material but they didn't that year. Might have been an opportunity to do well in that venue it seems. |

Atari, you should do an all acoustic volume. I like the idea of themed ones. Like side-projects, covers/bsides/rarely played songs, etc.
You should also send me an envelope with all 10 volumes inside of it. There's only 10 so far right? |

Yeah.
Since I'm not entirely happy with the ten I made (save the alt-Goo one) I don't think I'll be making any more for the time being. |

Which one was the Goo one? The only themed one I knew of was the Daydream show.

Date: Saturday, November 2nd, 1991 City: Mountain View, California, USAVenue: Shoreline Amphitheater -- Bridge School Benefit SET LISTNOTESDirty Boots Mote Cinderalla’s Big Score (aborted twice) Personality Crisis An infamous disaster of a show. Held at Neil Young's annual Bridge Benefit Concert, the band was to perform all acoustically, a foreign format to them. Ultimately, they get thru 2 songs, struggle with a 3rd, then after a long uncomfortable pause while the monitors are fixed, Kim smashes a guitar, screams "FUCK!", and the band does a loose cover of "Personality Crisis" before being booed offstage. Sonic Youth later alleges that their set was sabatouged by angry Neil Young roadies who resented remarks SY made about them in interviews following the early '91 tour. Lee, however, returns to sing "Forever Young" at the end with Neil, Nils Lofgren, Nicolette Larson, Tracy Chapman, and Willie Nelson. |
