Richey Edwards was a very intelligent person, sad to see his case being dropped.

That's sad - although hardly unexpected. He was for a while one of the only truly brilliant pop stars Britain had produced, probably since Morrissey.

I think the better question is why aren't you in the Manic Street Preachers, eh? Why aren't we all in the Manic Street Preachers? There is a place in each of our hearts - and I mean this quite sincerely - where we are all capable, nay, compelled to make really really shit music. Come on everyone, say it with me - I AM IN THE MANIC STREET PREACHERS. I feel much better.

spot on. I was thinking about that too, considering that he left only a few quid for his parents in the bank, plus the entire world doesn't give a flying fig about Manic Street Preachers these days, let alone the UK. |

Yep.
I remember reading they were the new Clash. I remember their faces in the NME. I remember one of them disappeared. I remember buying one of their first EPs and thinking my understanding of English was probably poorer than I thought. I remember people in France (was it a magazine) saying they were big in the UK, as a cheap way to create an audience in France. And I remember seeing one of their videos 5 to 10 years after Richey vanished, and I thought they had a slightly better taste in clothing than Chris Rea. That was all. |

still, 'the holy bible' and 'gold against the soul' are two pretty fuckin' good albums in my opinion.

I am absolutely delighted that everyone on this board despises The Manics.
Thats right, i called them by their shortened name because i consider myself one of their mates.

I actually love them for the first years, after Richey left, I don't like the music as much.
