Two great bands brimming with the flavor that made Midwest weirdpunk the best since the days of die Electric Eels, Vertical Slit, Mike Rep, etc.
Times New Viking deserve so much credit for waking the Siltbreeze label from its dormancy, and now two albums and a split 7" later, they're bound to make Matador relevant again. Keyboard-driven attack laced with shitcaked guitars plays it raw, but the sweet harmonies and great hooks show a heart of pure pop perfection. It's even oddly anthemic enough to enrapture all of you. http://www.timesnewviking.com/ http://www.myspace.com/timesnewviking Little Claw are one intriguing paradox, yinning knuckledraggin' gnarl of psych/punk pummelling to the yang of an awesomely charismatic female firebrand with her own perfect balance of fury and delicacy. After their auspicious self-titled debut LP on Ypsilanti and a new split 7" with Michael Yonkers, Thurston's finding 'em to his liking so much that Ecstatic Peace is presenting their 2nd album. http://www.myspace.com/littleclaw Dates: 8/1 Olympia 8/2 Vancouver @ Pub 340 8/3 Seattle 8/4 Portland (@ Slabtown w/ Hunches?? pending 100% conf) 8/5 Sacto @ Fools Foundation 8/6 SF Bay Area 8/7 SF @ the Hemlock w/ Family Underground & Fursaxa 8/8 South Bay/Central CA 8/9 S.D./Orange County/Inland Empire 8/10 L.A. 8/11 L.A. Too bad they're not hitting Minneapolis again soon... I enjoyed the set last year at the End Times Festival.

Almost complete now (just need help on day one!)...
8/1 Tri-Cities or Walla Walla, WA @ TBA 8/2 Vancouver @ Pub 340 w/ Shearing Pinx 8/3 Seattle @ SS Marie Antoinette w/ The Intelligence & Eat Skull 8/4 Portland @ Eagles Lodge w/ Hunches & Eat Skull 8/5 Sacto @ Fools Foundation w/ the Bayonettes & Standard Tribesmen 8/6 Chico @ Off Limits, 1414 Park Ave. w/ ??? 8/7 San Francisco @ the Hemlock w/ Family Underground & Fursaxa 8/8 Oakland @ 21 Grand w/ Sic Alps 8/9 on "The Bus" in San Jose (location to be released week before show) w/ Sexy Prison 8/10 L.A. @ Pehrspace, 325 Glendale Blvd., w/ Sexy Prison + TBA 8/11 L.A. @ The Smell w/ Sexy Prison + Party Fowl "The Bus" is a movable venue which is a decommissioned transit bus with all the seats ripped out. The previous owner was a retired cop who wanted to turn it into an RV. He rigged up the electronics and vaulted the back end which was intended to be the bedroom. He also made an "attic" with front windscreen through a ceiling cut. He wood-paneled the sides and ran all the wiring behind the paneling. So, now...the vaulted back area is the stage. The thing runs on biodiesel and toured the country last year. You can fit a band and about 60 people inside it, although a ton more people have flocked to many of these bus events, which have been outrageously fun.

The Sacto show on Sunday is now moved to Davis at the Delta of Venus.
The Delta is at 122 B Street. The show starts promptly at 9:00 and ends at midnight. This is gonna rule!

Times New Viking are even better than I thought they'd be...and I think that's sayin' a lot because I did love their records enough already to agree to book this tour for them.
Anyway, Bay Area...be ready tonight, and then it's L.A. If you are in L.A. and in a band or have a solo project, bring your vinyl, cassette, CD, or CDR to me for the radio station. I intend to program an all-L.A. special on 8/15 for Art for Spastics v. 144.

At least one of these L.A. nights needs to turn into a party that rages 'til 6:00 a.m.
