Amazing band, yeah? Yeah.
Probably the best 'punk' band ever. I knew Steve Shelley was in the band but it wasn't until I read Mark Prindle's reviews that I really got into them. |

Yeah, they're one of my all time favorites, though I would say wire is the best punk band ever. For simultaneously being punk as fuck and not punk at all. But mainly for saying fuck you to their own fans. No, I'm kidding. Mainly for making an AMAZING trilogy of albums and then the last 5 or 6 albums they've done are amazing too.
What really makes this band, to me, is the bass playing. Hell, the rhythm section in generla, but that rubbery, weirdly melodic bass playing. It's weird. Rarely do you hear bass as the "main" instrument, the main driving melodic force, I can only think of this band, Joy Division, and a small other few (in bands with instruments other than just the bass, of course; Lightning Bolt doesn't count), but they're all essential bands. I love all their songs, though his voice makes it hard to sit through the whole album. Also, one of the few bands to use voice/speech samples in an effective, interesting way that isn't annoying. Great mix tape band. Always throw a CURCIFUCKS song on in the middle of a mixtape. Any song, doesn't matter. Works very well. Kinda surprised SY never did a Crucifucks cover live, or something. |

I've honestly never thought of Wire as a punk band, simply because they sort of extend beyond the idiosyncrasies of the genre.
I like the vocalist's voice but I seem to be in the minority with that opinion. |

Oh, I love his voice. But it never really changes much in 32 songs. I mean, I love Dead Kennedys, but I proibably couldn't listen to the DK discography in one sitting. Most punk band singers are monotone, that's why Misfitrs and early Bad Religion are remembered so fondly, since their vocalists were melodic, "Had notes" or whatever.
Oh well, fuck it. DOC DART's a crazy awesome dude. |

The back cover of Our Will Be Done featured a photo of what Dart believed was a slain policeman, the photo was actually from a Philadelphia Police Department drill. Doc is perhaps best known for the 1996 lawsuit filed over the use of this photo. The Philadelphia chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police sued the Crucifucks, Alternative Tentacles Records, Jello Biafra, and Borders Inc. alleging libel and slander. The trial court awarded a $2.2 million default judgement which was vacated on appeal the following year. (Initially, Borders Books, which operated a Philadelphia record store that carried the album, was also a defendant in the suit.)

Ive become especially obsessed with this band recently, theyre by far the most deranged band of that era ive ever heard, easily putting the Butthole Surfers to shame.
