If he had a plan with what to do with the troops beyond sending them in, he might get the support he needs.

It doesn't really make a difference if they send more troops or not, does it? They were doomed to fail from the start, with a war fought on these grounds.
The sad thing is, that innocent civilians will pay the price, when the US and it's allies pull out with their tails between their legs. |

Important note: The committee resolution is non-binding, as in it will make no difference on what actually happens.
It doesn't really matter what this committee says. Bush is committed to the deployment, and it's already started. The American system has given so much power to the executive that he can basically ignore what other people say. This is how it is. The only thing this resolution will do is perhaps make people seriously consider putting Bush under investigation or impeachment at some point, but that might be meaningless this at this point. |

Fuck the President.
I was really surprised to hear a Republican didnt support the war on Iraq. 'Bout time they started coming around.

well the problem now is that it's "fucked if you do, fucked if you don't". the mistake was to invade in the first place. remember colon powell saying "you break it, you buy it?". well, lewis carroll was a little smarter than colon. these assholes should have read more. All the king's horses and all the king's men Couldn't put Humpty together again. you see the extra troops are being sent out of guilt, pretty much. even if they are able to "pacify" certain areas they will a) create more resentment b) encourage a growing insurgency c) eventually have to leave. the cure was worse than the disease. fucking dumbasses. but sending more troops migh just buy dubya the excuse to say "see, we tried, we really tried, but the iraquis...!" it's an effort to save face, that's all. whatever fucked thing happen happened in 2003. |
