My house is just me and my sister, and through the protection of the Archangel Gabriel, best represented by Chris Walken, the rent is cheap so its all ours.
so to decorate I have: dozens of pictures of family, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, grandparents, nieces, nephews etc etc.. then I three distinct crosses on the walls in different locations, one is a carving with several scenes from the life of Jesus, it is beautiful from Egypt. There are a few icons, notably the Nativity and the Virgin and Christ Child. And a few nature pictures, my sister got from one of her art teachers, photos from Ireland, they are lovely. and also a few books strewed across the place randomly and randomly replaced with other books.. and several Ethiopian crap on the walls like you find in an Ethiopian restraunt that people have given me over the years.. and a few strategic posters, Kurt Cobain, Radiohead, Sonic Youth, Grateful Dead, and some smaller music related decor here and there.. and of course, no less than six pictures of Jahnoy, His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie I, King of Kings, for "in my house, theres a picture on the wall Rastafari sit upon his throne!" what kind of decor do y'all rock? "When an evil spirit comes out of a man, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, 'I will return to the house I left.' When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean and decorated."

the only place in the house i can decorate how i want to, is my own bedroom (i'm living with my mother, stepfather, brothers, stepsisters and stepbrother)
it's a big mess most of the time, with various objects all over the floor. my furniture is a collection of different pieces, some of them are very old. my drawing table is actually our old kitchen table, one of the mirors in my room was in my parents' bedroom for as long as i remember. some objects are directly related to what i do, like the sewing machine, the canvases and big pieces of paper in a corner and the boxes of paint. some of these are nice to look at, like the dress forms or my easel. my walls are mostly covered by shelves, a big closet and a window (i got the room with the most daylight). the only big free wall has my postcard collection on it. there are also various silly things to be found, mostly for dressing up (like weird sunglasses, wigs or hats) |

My room looks like one of those show-bedrooms in IKEA. Modular chest of drawers, bed, shelving, lamps, etc. I've painted 2 walls terracotta orange and 2 walls a sort of sandy yellow. Most of my furniture is either bare pine or painted a dark red. This all must sound absolutely horrible but it actually goes together rather well. Havana style, baby. Everything is pretty cramped, though. Books, records, DVDs, instruments, clothes.. bustin out all the spaces between.

Walls are covered with drawings, posters, pictures, flyers etc. The rest of the room is a mess made of records, music instruments, amp, clothes, stereo, cuts from papers, books, fanzines, boxes and more boxes filled with anything I can fill them with. A mess, that's how my room looks like.

VERY tidy and everything is filed (CDs , books, magazines, DVDs).
I like to find stuff easily when i want it. It uis for me a pleasure to look at tidy shelves with lots of things i love that are easily accessible. I'm not a maniac at all, but that's the way i do it. it's pretty good. I decorate the walls with pastel colors and flashy abstract expressionist paintings by me or others. It's awesome but still can get better. Furniture is rubbish though. Cheap basic Ikea stuff is what i like. We're buying a massive dinner table next week; YAYZ; |

It's not so much decorated as full of mostly functional bric-a-brac. Moved too many times lately to have anything of worth out of a box. There are some posters and photos on the wall though but not many(compared to what it used to be in other places)... Audrey Hepburn/breakfast at tiffany's posters, Barbarella poster, Attack of the 50ft woman poster, pic of Humphrey Bogart, some hubble photos of galaxies/stars general space prettyness, an esoteric goddesses poster, a small picture of a vintage illustration of a performance of 'midsummer night's dream', a drawing/painting floatingslowly did for me a million years ago, and finally some personal photos pinned up randomly on the back of my door.
actually that is a lot of crap on my walls. But it looks more sparse than it sounds.

My house is my bedroom.
And my bedroom is filled with books, albums, CDs, guitars, a piano, various bits of notes and documents with clothes everywhere all covered in a thick layer of dust. Vanity Fair are coming over tomorrow to do a pictorial essay. Hey - it's bin night tonight, otherwise it woulda been worse... |
