today is the first time i have ever listened to this album. pretty interesting sounds. can't say it's revealed too much yet although i really really like the first track a lot.
been reading all the reviews on amazon. very entertaining reading! some people make the album sound like this drug that you just can't escape from no matter how hard you try. |

It's better than almost all the Beatles albums by far. The fucking thing is absolutely fucking glorious. Okay?

quite a good album. i didn't really dig it until a few months ago though. falling asleep at a ridiculous hour of the morning on a road trip with it on, perfect.

Very likely.
But then it's like the top favorite on just about any kind of critic list. Which is weird to me, as one who bought this day after it was released in 1991, when almost nobody gave it much notice--and never gave it much notice until many years later. It blows me away how much this album has gained in critical and popular appreciation over the years. It used to be a farily obscure little album.

I remember back when i was an uber-n00b here (I'm pretty sure Cantankerous was still around), we had some poll where everyone submitted 5 ideas for what they thought the accumulative 'SYG top 5' albums would be.
This one came out on top. Anyone have a link to that thread/know what I'm talking about? |
