Hi.
I never felt the urge to add effects, I just manage to get what I need messing with the built in ones and a bit of creativity... What photoshop version are you working on? And what is/are the effect/s you'd need? Just to get an idea. Regards. Nic.

Hmmm, first of all, consider a version upgrade !
For the fonts, you just need to download the font files (.ttf , .fon, .ttc) and put them in the Font directory in c:\windows (I'm on a pc with xp, but the same process should work with most win versions), on the next Photoshop startup all the new fonts added should be on the font list. For the effects, I really don't know, my first photoshop version was 7, now I use cs2 but I guess there's a way to add external effects/filters... I'll ask around a bit. Hope this helps. nic

Far as effects (filters,etc..) you should be able to just drag and drop whatever downloaded ones you accrue into the plug-ins folder which should be something like c:/windows/program files/adobe/photoshop6/plugins, it has been a while since I've used 6 and also a pc for this so if I'm incorrect, please forgive....

They're called plugins and if you look on google, you should find countless free ones. Here are a few links where you can start. http://thepluginsite.com/resources/freeps.htm <This one has a lot. http://www.freephotoshop.com/html/downloadables.html http://www.photoshopsupport.com/tools.html http://www.afh.com/web/pshop/free.html etc, etc. Once you download the plugins you want, unzip them (if required), and put them into your photoshop plugin map which is located in Program files/adobe/photoshop/plugins on your computer. Here is a good site with free fonts for pc/mac. http://www.1001freefonts.com/ Again, once you download the fonts you want, unzip them (if required), and put them in your pc's font map and when you open Photoshop, Word, etc, you'll be able to use them. Feel free to pm me for further info.

i guess im going to just hammer on what you've been told but your fonts are part of your operating system, not photoshop. you simply move your (unzipped) font files into this folder: C:\WINDOWS\Fonts there are many free fonts floating around the web, but those you pay for are usually better quality. as for the plugins, you have thorough instuctions. have fun! |

I need to use photoshop instead of the crappy and limited artrage where you can't shrink your brush down far enough...i suppose i should just draw on a huge plane and then reduce the size of the final picture, but then you're only working with sections of the image at a time instead of being able to see it all at once and get back from it...optimally, i'd love to be set up w/ photoshop and a drawing tablet.
i downloaded a copy of adobe photoshop. it was a huge file and I never learned how to use it. I guess I should have burned the data to disc before I trashed it. |
