I always find it sad to see someone who had reached the pinnacle of their career, with friends, fans and adulation, but who is still so hurt and pained inside that he/she requires constant and varied chemical substances to function day to day.

I am not a fan of the Foo Fighters music. I will not go into why here. I am however a fan of the guys in the band, who always seemed like genuine human beings just looking to rock out and give their fans a good time.

So many of us suffer with our burdens, even after achieving success. Fame, money, and power do nothing to dampen the sorrow, hurt, and pain inside.

The world of music is dotted with such people.

I do not judge those who seek solace in chemicals, just as I do not judge those that seek solace in adrenaline, or books, or through detached delirium. Taylor Hawkins had over 10 different mind-altering or numbing chemicals in his body at the time of death.

We are all here together. We are all hurting, even those who pretend otherwise.

Take care of yourselves, take care of your people, and take care of the strangers in your life.

I too am not a Foo Fighters fan (though the self-titled album is pretty good and I have an emotional connection to My Hero), but of course it’s incredibly sad.
I’m not sure on the state of the cause of death investigation, but it seemed like a likely OD to me, depending on which/how much opiates and benzodiazepines were in his system.
I also like the guys in the band even though I haven’t liked a lick of their music in 20+ years. They seem like all right folks.

Always heartbreaking when anyone passes away prematurely, and it always gets me when the unbelievable suffering and pain of drug addiction is part of it.

Opioids, benzodiazepines, anti-depressants and THC? Three of the four were in my system for years, by prescription. Probably the four most common substances in North America.

Maybe there have been new developments since I last checked but, not sure “asking for it” is entirely accurate just based on the substances. It would have more to do with the amounts.

EDIT: Ok I guess there were 10, probably multiple painkillers, benzos, etc. Still I dunno about “asking for it”

I guess my point is, 10 substances in the system ≠ asking for death. That would mean an awful lot of people are asking for death.

Takes addiction. Or cancer. Or a combination of physical injuries and mental illness. Or just 10 prescriptions.

Anyway I’m not trying to start shit with anyone but when someone dies, it’s fucking sad. When someone dies as a result of an addiction, it is also fucking sad. I’ve dealt with addiction in my family life and probably personally as well, and that’s how I feel about it.

“Dude was asking for it” seems like a really weird response, but if we’re not on the same page about that, cool.

By having a Dad such as that, the kid was clearly subconsciously asking fer it too. Eric actually wrote Tears in Heaven weeks before the planned event and subsequently milked that shite for all it's worth, to high crack heaven. This is when he donned the nickname 'slow hand' which was attributed because of his uncanny ability to throw children very long distances. However, Here's where the story gets strange. Michael Jackson was also a fan of high rises and children... dangling and he too, like Hawkins was 50 at the time of death and also had enough drugs in his system to fuck up every rhinoceros in the African continent. huh.
