I don't get the fascination with Warhol. Nothing he has ever does has really impressed me.

that isn't worse than putting a basketball in a glass case, or making a metal sculpture that appears not to be a sculpture but a balloon.

If you mean in the sixties and in the sixties alone, check out any number of relevant pop artists who operated at the time, because they all mostly checked out each other's work at exhibitions, installations etc. Mixing was a very sixties thing to do, so it wasn't a rare thing for an artist to take ideas from other artists' work and re-work them for their own purposes.Warhol himself had a habit of sometimes paying people to provide him with ideas. Film-wise, check out Jonas Mekas's website, arguably the most important cineaste in New York at the time:

Who actually revolutionized pop art? Some say Andy Warhol, while others say Roy Lichtenstein. I think that they both directly and indirectly learnt from each other as time progressed. Lichtenstein was making object assemblages from stuff that he found on the street. Much in the same way, Warhol was creating works of art from everyday items. Both intergrated advertising and comic book imagery in their art.
Difficult to determine who influenced who?
