The Tempest sits atop all of his other works, in my opinion. It is followed by Timon of Athens and Henry V.

His sonnets deserve a mention too. I think the sonnets have been discussed here before (Pookie is a fan, I seem to recall).

Great thread. It's time for bed now, but I shall return(eth) to this thread tomorrow. Nice.

shakespeare was funny. and smart.

that being said, i can't really get into his stuff. if i was around back then, i'm sure i'd just be fucking blown away. nowadays, i can't really get into it. but yeah.

gonna have to go with hamlet and pericles. though obviously i'm only familiar with maybe 30% of his work..

I don't dig the 'speare. I find his stories good and all, but really, I cannot stand reading it. I understand much of it, but there's so much else of the writing that just makes no sense, and I would much rather be able to read a book proper than have to look to the margin with the definitions and whatnot every ten lines...

Why don't you just see the plays, then?

I prefer Shakespeare's historical plays.

Julius Ceasar, Titus Andronicus, King Lear, Macbeth, etc

I like Much Ado About Nothing. Only if Keanu Reeves is playing the bad guy though.

I remember loving Othello as a kid but I don't know if I would like it as much now. Iago is an amazingly sinister character.

I really like Macbeth. It's dark, twisted, and full of foul play.

I don't know I'd call it my favorite though, thats hard to choose.
