A dumb thread I know, but this is a tribute to the Nicotine Needy. Im convinced that these evil rolled delicious little fuckers are the hardest of all drugs to quit. It proly has to do more with how much smoking integrates into your daily life, finish a beer, light a smoke, jump in your car, take a puff, the world famous amazing morning combo of cofee/cig, finish a delicious dinner, having a satisfying cig to top off the relaxation. As a recovering alcoholic and addict (over the past year ive quit drinking, cocaine, opiates mainly oxycontin and heroin, and weed), I can honestly say that nothing has enslaved me like cigarettes. Ive tried quitting so many times, the longest bout of healthy lungs was three weeks. I always light that one smoke tho which leads to a pack and half a day. Luckily, I was a high school cross country runner, and I still run every day and lift a couple times a week and smoking considered Im in very good shape. My doctor said for a guy with my nicotine habit im pretty healthy as far as excercise and eating habits go, and if I quit id be mega healthy. On that note, whatre ur favorite cigs, and some quitting strategy reccomendations (ive tried gum, patch, marijuana, aversion therapy, and cold turkey so far)...
My faves: Parliament Full Flavors Camel Filter Wides Marlbro 27's. Buggler Original Rolling Tobacco (so cheap, lasts me a few days) Y tu... |

Hmmm, after smoking for ten years, I have tried to quit many times with many different methods. My current attempt has been most successful, and I haven't smoked for six months. I haven't taken any aids this time. I strongly believe that when you're ready, you can just stop. It's the only way.
I still miss smoking in a big way, but it was making me feel really ill. The down side is that I don't feel much better, but I don't constantly worry about dying... Give it up kids, it'll kill you!

I smoked Winston 100s for about nine years. I quite for 14 months in 2004-2005, but I started up again. I just quit in August 07 and it has been fantastic. the first time was terrifyingly difficult, spiritually speaking. this last time my strategy was very simple, I climatized myself as a nonsmoker by not buying cigarettes all summer. I just bummed them, so I only smoked tobacco when it was truly convenient, like when someone offered. gradually over the summer I weened myself off of cigarettes until the end of august, when I bought three packs during a week of solid shows, and at the end of the week, I had no desire to smoke cigarettes anymore. moral of the story, take it slow and easy, quit over time, cold turkey does not work well.

as The Usher said , it seems that whenever i've quit for a period of time its just happened because i was truly ready to . when that happens it isnt actually that hard .
whenever i really try to quit smoking , i end up obsessing over the thought of it while im trying . those attempts never last . that doesnt make much sense does it . "dont try to quit , and you will " when i smoke its either craven menthols or canadians . i cant stand american cigarettes . |

I've smoked a bunch of cigarettes every now and then, mainly during smoke breaks at work.. I hang with the smokers, but I'm not a smoker, but I've stilled smoked plenty. Never bothered me at all to quit cold turkey continuously and I'm done for good now. It's a waste of fucking money.

Well, my favorite is the Nat Sherman MCD, but I also like Dunhills. Since cigarettes are ridiculously expensive, I rarely smoke my absolute favorite brands.
I buy Camel Lights. I cannot hack any of the bargain cigarettes with the floor sweepings and so forth. I just bought a new carton only minutes ago. I smoke around two packs every day and have done so for coming up on almost twenty years now. My teeth are stained accordingly, but perhaps interestingly, I haven't had even so much as a winter cold in around six years. I first joined the old forum in 2002 and I think it was the winter before then that I last became ill. I know the day is coming soon when I have to somehow quit them though. |

easiest way to stop ive found, is to get a girlfriend who doesnt like you smoking and nags at you, and is in a mood with you whenever youve had a cigarette, etc, |

Have your girlfriend dump you. That's what did it for me. I was so pissed off, I threw everything that reminded me of her out my 4th story dorm window. That included the cigarettes I started smoking because she smoked too.
Never went back. Had smoked about six months at that point, so maybe I wasn't terribly addicted. My girlfriend probably saved my life.

I smoke Peter Jackson reds, or when I'm broke I buy natives. At $15 bucks a carton you can't really go wrong.
Du Mauriers suck ass by the way.

Is it possible to smoke but smoke only like a couple cigarettes a week? That wouldn't kill me.

if that is not clear enough, i can make it more obvious quitting is easy! i quit all the time -- better? in any case, nobody asked for your sympathy. yuck. |

Camel Infused are the nastiest cigarettes on the planet. I usually smoke Camel Wide Filters. If they don't have them I usually just get Marlboro Reds. Reds come in the soft pack, which is mad amounts of cool. Sometimes I roll my own. I usually use Bali Shag Gold.
