I'm really into that new experimental New York Scene these times... I already know Liars, Gang Gang Dance, Animal Collective, TV on the Radio, Celebration, Excepter, Double Leopards, Dragons of Zynth, !!! (in a sense...), The Double, First Nation, Black Dice... Any other band to tell me ?

About the new TV on the Radio album, I don't think it's as weak as everybody tell it is... I really love it, not as much as the first, but almost... I Was A Lover et Blues From Down Here are fantastic |

that's stupid, most of those bands don't even play together. but other ny bands: orthrelm, no-neck blues band, magik markers, early man, fireball. |

I like those three Brooklyn bands. TV on the Radio is so-so. There is no "new New York scene" though although there is a bit of a thing going on in Brooklyn. New York City music has been dead as a doornail as far as a real deal for a ridiculous number of years, but yeah, momentum has been building for a few years now.
Magik Markers...I can fart out better shit than that if my guitar is tuned similarly. |

these days, everything "experimental" is in brooklyn. or just a lot of noise shit that you probably don't care for. magik markers and hella are not from ny.

its just out this wek in the states and before christmas in europe...
trading magik markers for byop. a bit like trading radiohead for coldplay. magik markers arent nyc although base themselves there. granted they arent the most technically gifted people in the world and maybe thats why i like em. every listen is a challenge, its fresh and different.... thats my defence of the mms, granted i know i am becoming a member of an ever dwindling minority of mm fans here, maybe i dont wanna grow up! |
