I have randomly selected 5 books from the master list. The list can be found on the "Sonic Youth Gossip Book Club" thread. I used a random number generator to choose the books. It is here: http://gohs.tvusd.k12.ca.us/randomnumber/rdnew.aspx
Here are the five it spit out: 1. Vladimir Nabokov: Pnin 2. Victor Hugo: The Hunchback of Notre Dame 3. Nikolai Gogol: Dead Souls 4. William Gibson: Virtual Light 5. Samuel Beckett: Murphy PM me with the number of your selection. OR, PM me 6 (or 666, whatever) if you'd like me to do another random selection. Voting stops Thursday at 5:00 PM CST (right now is 4:25 PM CST, look at when it says I posted this and add 3 days and 35 minutes). Suggestions: Do some research on these books before voting. Try to convince people to vote for the book you want in this thread, if you want to. Fuck a duck. |

I vote for Virtual Light by Willaim Gibson because I am in the mood for a sci-fi. Futuristic/apocalyptic novels always seem to interest me.

Yes, the inbox needs to be cleaned out.
For the reacord, though, I'm voting for Dead Souls. Mainly because I recentley bought a copy and have yet to read it. |

I went to the bookstore today.
All were available except the Gibson. The Hugo came with a DVD of the silent film version. A brand new complete edition of all of Beckett's works just came out. It's awesome. If you guys pick the Gogol, keep in mind that we'll have to decide on a translation. There were two available at the bookstore I went to: Garnett and Pevear/Volonkonsky. I vote for the Beckett, #5. Not too long and I've read most of his other novels. They kick ass. My preference goes like this: Beckett Nabokov Gogol Hugo Gibson PM me with more votes, it's easier. Sorry about having my box stuffed too full. *snicker* |
