So, a lot of us like Mafia books & movies.
What are your favorite books & movies about the Mafia? Do a top ten list or whatever you feel like, if you feel like doing it; after all, no one has a gun to your head. |

I'm from Italy(home of 'our thing' you tiny things). The mafia, apparently, started out as a mean to fight all things percieved as state run and the blah blah blah.It went on to spread its ever erratic tentacles(hence the 'La piovra 'tag) to well(hmmm...) adjusted countries making sure that a distorted image of Italy was spread all over the continents. Then came Porkmarras,The Sopranos and things got worse and worse.Literature?Phweee! |

Godfather Trilogy, Casino, Scarface, Donnie Brasco, Heat (we'll call it that). I've had The Last Mafioso for years, but I haven't read it yet.

Also in "The Simpsons" Joe Mantanga does the voice of Fat Tony, the head mafia guy, and they are always making fun of "The Godfather 3" on that show, and "Godfather 3" was the only movie in the series he was actually in.

"Bart the Murderer" used to be my hands-down favorite episode of The Simpsons.
It was the episode that introduced William "Fat Tony" Williams (Yeah, Joe Mantegna). |

i love the one with the pretzels and the japanese guy in the white suit, "but mom, that guy in the white suit hasn't moved yet, i know he's gonna do something awesome"
Fat Tony : I'm afraid I must insist. You see, my wife, she has been most vocal on the subject of the pretzel monies. "Where's the money? "When are you going to get the money?" "Why aren't you getting the money now?" And so on |

joey tight lips is the best mafia character in the simpsons
"joey tight lips did you see which way he went?" "I ain't sayin nothin'" The robot mafia in Futurama are even better Robot: "Donbot, I beg you. I can't make this week's loan payment. Look into your hard drive and open your mercy file!" Donbot: "File not found!" Donbot: "Joey, Clamps, hurry up and blindfold 'em before they see us some more." |

fuckin' a that was the best. I think I have to go watch that episode now. when Homer tells Fat Tony, "you mean the mob did a favor for me just for me to do a favor for them in return?...for shame...good day...I said good day, sir" ...oh lord. & johnny tight lips...i ain't sayin' nothin' (in another) whoa! who said i had a mudda? priceless! I hope The Simpsons movie is good. I wonder if I'll cry when it goes off the air even though there are so many great episodes anyway & it isn't what it used to be. I still love the show, though. |

At the moment I'm reading The Westies.
Inside New York's irish mob (60's - 80's). By T. J. English The story of Jimmy Coonan and Mickey Featherstone. The Irish mob were not as organised as the Cosa Nostra but just as ruthless. As for films: Gangs of New York Good Fellas Godfather trilogy Casino La Piovra (TV serie) Scarface Donnie Brasco... etc
