I literally can't get over the unparalleled creativity, soul and skronk in his guitar playing- definitely my favourite. His solo and collaboration albums have been great (Exercises In Futility and Y Los Cubanos Postizos stand out) and the handiwork on Tom Waits' Rain Dogs and Real Gone are to die for. For all you Ribot virgins or if you just need reminding: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WT0j8-h55TA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3R-_YWSPRpY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0kacLLT248 (marc is on guitar) Discuss your Ribot-related discussions. |

I'm in love with his album Asmodeus from a couple years ago where he plays Zorn's Masada Book Two. Heavy and noisy and really rockin.

Agreed, he's amazing, the book of angels he did was great, as is ceramic dog. I think I mentioned this on another thread, but his impossible etudes album is unreal.

Read this thread, and note who mentions him first.
http://www.sonicyouth.com/gossip/sho...ighlight=ribot Was first to mention him at the old board too, Danny (Boy) Himself. Like your thread though. I'm sounding like a jackass. |

Yes, you are a jackass. You are not a better human being for having heard of Marc Ribot before me, so there is no need to point it out. Quote:
I still need to get yo! i killed your god. I think it was re-issued recently so perhaps it will be cheaper now. You're lucky to catch him live. He hasn't been to the UK in a while now and the closest he's coming this year is Holland, which is a bit out of my range. |

Sounds great! I'll definitely keep my eyes open wide in case it pops up in a store somewhere. |
